1. You will be on your feet much of the day. As a physicians assistant, you will not have many opportunities to sit down. In order to protect your feet, you will want to wear shoes that offer as much support as possible.

2. You will be exposed and vulnerable to diseases. Because generally it is mainly sick people who visit doctor’s offices, you will come in contact with a lot of illnesses that are highly contagious. Remember to keep your immune system strong and make sure you are healthy enough to pursue such career. You dont want to be a physician assistant turned into a patient.

3. You will be with people all day. Seeing patients all day means that you will talk a lot and establish relationships with hundreds of people. Remaining upbeat and positive will help to make this potentially exhausting part of your job more manageable.

As a physicians assistant, you have a big responsibility to help your female patients stay healthy. One of the most important ways you can do this is to stay up to date on the prevalence of heart disease among women. Tragically, even though heart disease kills more women every year than it does men, many doctors still view it as a “men’s disease.” And for this reason, many women with heart disease are being underdiagnosed and undertreated.

As a physicians assistant, you are in a position to reverse this trend, at least in the women that you are caring for. Make sure that you do a thorough examination of every woman you see. Check her blood pressure, total cholesterol levels, blood sugar, weight and oxygen saturation levels. If you see any red flags, take the necessary steps to investigate until you determine whether she is in danger or not. What you do for her may save her life.

If you are a physician’s assistant, then you have firsthand knowledge about your career that can help others decide whether they want to pursue this job. One of the best ways to help others is to travel to local high schools and hold seminars for the students. During these talks, you can explain to the students what it is like being a physicians assistant. Be sure to share with them both the advantages and the disadvantages. Do not sugarcoat the rough parts, but do not hold back on the perks either. Give them an honest picture of what your job is like. Also talk to them about your college and graduate school experience. Help them to understand what will be expected of them in their classes. Ett livsstilsboende med hästen i centrum ger många fördelar för de som bor där. Att Julmyra Horse Center är en unik anläggning inte bara i Sverige utan även i Norden, bevisas av att ett 30-tal olika kommuner från Sverige samt kommunrepresentanter från Norge och Finland besökt Julmyra Horse Center för att se hur ett hästsamhälle kan byggas upp.

På Julmyra’s anläggning finns travbanor, galoppbana, ett stort nybyggt ridhus om 30 x 84 meter (ett av Sveriges större ridhus), flera kilometer belysta ridvägar, backbana, gott om hagar och betesmark samt flera mil ridstigar runt området. Här finns även ett 100-tal avstyckade tomter där man kan bygga sitt drömboende i form av en villa, parhus eller en egen hästgård med bostad och stall. Framöver planeras även ett antal mindre lägenheter att byggas för att möta efterfrågan från de som ej har behov av en villa eller parhus.

På Julmyra Horse Center kan du som vill ha ett hästnära boende bo på en egen hästgård i en hästby där alla delar samma intresse – hästar.

I dagsläget, mars 2012, bor ett 30-tal familjer på Julmyra Horse Center och det finns ett 100-tal hästar på området. Det finns flera stall men endast ett fåtal boxar lediga för uthyrning. Därför planeras nu byggnation av ett stall till med kapacitet för upp till 60 hästar.  Det nya stallet beräknas även ta tillvara på senaste forskning och teknik för att bli en miljö där både människor och hästar trivs samtidigt som det blir lättarbetat med hög grad av mekanisering, vilket spar både tid, pengar och hästskötarnas kroppar.
